Join our practical 3-week intensive program in Yerevan (Armenia) at the Armenian National Opera and Ballet Theatre - designed for young, aspiring Singers, Conductors, and Pianists. We will select 6 conductors who will participate in the NurOpera Academy Program. 2 Conductors will have the opportunity to conduct a full staged performance at the Armenian National Opera and Ballet Theatre (ANOBT) during the NurOpera Festival on the following dates:
- 17th of August: "La traviata" by Giuseppe Verdi (staged performance)
- 18th of August: "La traviata" by Giuseppe Verdi (staged performance)
The selection process to decide who will conduct during the NurOpera Festival will happen during the Academy. We will announce their names after the orchestral rehearsal with the singers for "La traviata". The remaining 4 conductors will be invited to conduct staged performance of "La traviata" at the Armenian National Opera and Ballet Theatre (ANOBT) during the 2024-2025 season. Besides "La traviata" all 6 conductors have the opportunity to passively assist the resident or guest conductors of the NurOpera Festival during the rehearsals of the operas that will be performed during the NurOpera Festival:
- 4th of August: Opening of the Festival, Concert version of the opera "Adriana Lecouvreur" by Francesco Cilea (concert performance)
- 7th of August: "La bohème" by Giacomo Puccini (staged performance)
- 11th of August: "Otello" by Giuseppe Verdi (concert performance)
- 14th of August: "Turandot" by Giacomo Puccini
- Lectures on Italian style with Italian style coach Massimiliano Bullo (minimum 4 hours)
- Attendance possibility: Sessions with Vocal coach Alexandre Naoumenko
- Lectures with Mariinsky Theatre Language coach (French & Italian) Daria Mitrofanova (minimum 4 hours)
- All 6 conductors will participate in the Conducting masterclass with the General Director and Principal Conductor of the ANOBT, Karen Durgaryan with two pianos (75 minutes each participant; repertoire tbd.)
- All 6 conductors will participate in the Conducting masterclass with the General Director and Principal Conductor of the ANOBT, Karen Durgaryan and the orchestra of the ANOBT (30 minutes each participant; repertoire tbd.)
- Musical analysis session of "La bohème" with guest conductor of the opera performance Arman Tigranyan
- Musical analysis sessions of the operas "Adriana Lecouvreur", "Otello", and "La traviata" with Artistic Director of the NurOpera Festival, Migran Agadzanyan
- Passive assistantship to the conductors of the operas "Adriana Lecouvreur", "La bohème", "Turandot", and "Otello"
- All 6 conductors will prepare "L'elisir d'amore" with the singers - participants of the NurOpera Academy with piano (minimum 4 hours)
- All 6 conductors will be involved in the stage rehearsals of "L'elisir d'amore" alongside the stage director and other staff of the ANOBT with the NurOpera Academy singers, and all other participants of the staged performance
- All 6 conductors will do an orchestra rehearsal of "L'elisir d'amore" with singers of NurOpera Academy, and staff of ANOBT (90 min.)
- 2 chosen Conductors will conduct a full dress rehearsal (200 minutes each participant) of "L'elisir d'amore" during the NurOpera Academy. Selection process - during the orchestral rehearsals.
- Each of the 2 chosen Conductors will conduct during the NurOpera Festival a full staged performance of "La traviata".
- Other 4 Conductors (each participant will get a separate invitation) of the NurOpera Academy will be invited to conduct this staged performance (including a full dress rehearsal of 200 minutes) at the Armenian National Opera Theater during the season 2024-2025. The travel and accommodation expenses will be covered by ANOBT
- Attendance (auditors) masterclasses with renowned singers such as Maria Guleghina (Meytargian), Vladislav Sulimsky, Veronika Dzhioeva
- Career Development, ‘Self-Re-Presentation’ Course with the manager Natalja Slobodyreva (Production of the Festival, Director & Founder of Meta Music International, Meta Music Academy)
- Access and tickets to all NurOpera Festival events
- Video Recordings, Photos that will be made during the NurOpera Festival & Academy
- Promotion of all participants on the NurOpera Festival & Academy’s website, and Social Media platforms
- Visa assistance (if needed)
- Transfer from/to the airport
- Travel & Accommodation – we can suggest to all participants accommodation at special rates
- Meals
- Local transfers between hotel and Armenian National Opera and Ballet Theater

Submit a single video, not exceeding 15 minutes in duration. The video can showcase a rehearsal or concert with an orchestra, a smaller ensemble, or conducting two pianos. The choice of repertoire is at the discretion of the applicant.
