Having grown up in Russia and in the United States, Arman Tigranyan has benefited from a musical education in an international context. His ability to unite the musical traditions and forms of expression of various cultures and countries makes him an outstanding representative of his generation of conductors. His mentor Paavo Järvi says about him: “Arman's charismatic yet precise conducting style, unwavering attention to detail, as well as the gift of capturing all actors, make him a very fine and special musician, and conductor. His profound understanding of ensemble psychology empowers him to swiftly and efficiently achieve exceptional results.”
In recent seasons, Arman Tigranyan's engagements have led him on a tour of South Korea with the renowned Svetlanov State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia. His captivating performances have included Tchaikovsky's 5th Symphony and collaborative endeavors with the legendary South Korean pianist Kun-woo Paik, presenting the first piano concerto.
Arman's tenure as the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Palermo Classics Festival and the Symphony Festival Orchestra bore witness to collaborations with celebrated soloists such as Viktoria Mullova, Desiree Rancatore, Mario Stefano Pietrodarchi, Alexander Malofeev, and Alexander Toradze, among others.
Past and current seasons feature a variety of engagements with prestigious orchestras and ensembles. These include collaborations with the Korean Symphony Orchestra, Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra, Staatskapelle Halle, Russian National Orchestra, Baltic Sea Philharmonic, Estonian National Youth Symphony, Sinfonietta Cracovia, Camerata Armonia, Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra, Royal Academy Symphony Orchestra of London, Chamber Orchestra Berlin, West Saxony Symphony Orchestra, St Petersburg Youth Orchestra, Barnaul State Academic Symphony Orchestra, Belgorod Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Kunming Philharmonic Orchestra.
Arman Tigranyan's musical journey began in Moscow, where he embarked on his violin path under the guidance of his father, Ashot Tigranyan. His pursuit of musical excellence led him to the esteemed Central Music School at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory. A significant turning point in his life occurred when his family emigrated to the United States, settling in Los Angeles. It was in Santa Barbara, California, that Arman received the prestigious Baroness Leni Fe Bland's highest prize and grant, recognizing him as a gifted and prodigious violinist.
His violin studies continued under the tutelage of Viktor Danchenko at the Peabody Conservatory, followed by enriching experiences with Jean Ter-Merguerian at the Conservatoire de Marseille and Joseph Rissin at the Karlsruhe Musikhochschule, culminating in an honors graduation in 2009. That same year marked the commencement of his conducting studies at the Musikhochschule in Freiburg. From 2011 to 2016, Arman furthered his education in opera and symphony conducting at the prestigious Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory under the guidance of Prof. Vladimir Ponkin.
Arman's dedication to ongoing development is evident through his active participation in masterclasses conducted by esteemed conductors, including Neeme Järvi, Paavo Järvi, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Jorma Panula, Vladimir Ponkin, and Colin Meters.
In addition to his extensive journey, Arman Tigranyan has assisted Kristjan Järvi in various projects, contributing significantly to the music realm. These projects have included the Usedom Music Festival with the Baltic Sea Philharmonic, performances in Moscow with the Svetlanov State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia, featuring renowned soloist Denis Matsuev, and a presentation at Leipzig's Gewandhaus, where Kristjan Järvi and the MDR Radio Symphony Orchestra performed Arman Tigranyan's symphonic arrangement of Bach's Chaconne from Partita in D minor for solo violin. Arman has also had the privilege of assisting Maestro Vladimir Spivakov with the Concert Symphony Orchestra of the Moscow Conservatory, featuring pianist Nikolai Lugansky. He was a guest at the renowned Järvi Summer Academy and Festival in Pärnu, Estonia, where he had the honor of sharing the stage with Neeme Järvi during the final concert in Leigo. In recent years, Arman has had the honor of assisting Maestro Neeme Järvi with online conducting masterclasses.
In 2012, in Karlsruhe, Arman Tigranyan co-founded the Camerata Armonia Orchestra with friends, a testament to his commitment to nurturing young talents. His global concert endeavors encompass a rich and diverse repertoire, featuring works from different epochs and styles.
Currently, Arman is actively engaged as a guest conductor with the prestigious Mariinsky Theatre, further enriching his accomplished career.
